Dr Ellen Wiles, Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing (E&R) at the University of Exeter, will give a seminar on Literary Activism in a time of Climate and Biodiversity crisis.

What can literary storytelling do to address the climate and biodiversity crisis?  How effective can it be as a form of activism? Who are some of the best writer-activists working today? How might you use creative writing to communicate your own ideas, experiences and research? This talk will explore these ideas, and participants will be given the opportunity to experiment with creative writing.
 
Dr Ellen Wiles is a novelist, sound artist, anthropologist, and Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing at the University of Exeter. She designed and convenes the MA module ‘Writing for the Planet’. Recent immersive sound works exploring issues of climate and ecology include commissions for The National Trust. She will be artist-in-residence at CREWW from September 2024.
